My home page says 'Paolo Fuschi - Independent Musical Artist'. It did not take me long to chose this "self acknowledgement". As a matter of fact, it took me about thirty seconds. I am very sure about the reasons why I describe myself as a Independent Musical Artist. This awareness comes from a sum up of my musical career. For the majority of my life I have been involved with several musical project and my will is to carry on doing so for as long as I can. Among these I have been hired as a session guitarist for a signed artist. That was my only experience as part of a no-independent project. Everything else has always been independent and I have the feeling that it will be like this for good. These day I do music mainly for a artistic urge of expression. I do not believe in the music business. I sound bitter and maybe obvious but it is the truth. Maybe it might be more correct to say that I do not believe in the current Music business model. Anyway, the matter of fact is that at the age of 38 it feels better than ever knowing that I am free to do whatever I want to with Music. These days there are endless opportunities. Technology has definitely pulled down the elitism associated to the opportunity of recording. Obviously there is also a negative side to it but generally I believe that in art as well as life there is no point to polarise positive and negative. Especially with art everything boils down to personal opinions and simple personal taste. In conclusion I am convinced that the moment a musical artist refuses to believe in the current music business model as the only model sustainable and starts to embrace the possibility of an independent path, limits turn into possibilities. Researching, studying, trying new approaches, discovering, freely and honestly expressing ourselves, those are the priorities, the rest is not my "music" business.
